It’s sooo nice to meet you!

Kris Knowlton

… coach, lake enthusiast, and firm believer that real growth doesn’t have to be “perfect” to be meaningful. I built Haven Lake Coaching as a space for individuals and caregivers to find balance, foster realistic routines, and build a life that feels authentic and sustainable.

My approach blends empowerment with practical tools. I work to curate a warm, nonjudgemental, and empathetic space that meets your unique needs. Let’s celebrate your wins, sit together in the tough moments, and take reasonable steps that lead to lasting change. My style is approachable, kind, and optimistic because I believe growth is more sustainable when it feels human and achievable—not when we expect ourselves to do everything “perfectly. A difficult day or a step backward doesn’t erase how far you’ve come. Sometimes it simply becomes part of learning what you need next.

MY BACKGROUND

I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and currently work full-time as a therapist in an outpatient mental health setting. My education and professional experience have given me a strong foundation in human behavior, emotional wellbeing, behavior change, and the many factors that can make growth feel complicated. My graduate training also provided extensive experience developing skills in empathetic listening, collaborative goal-setting, and helping people identify both the barriers they’re facing and the strengths they can draw from as they move forward.

My experience extends beyond the classroom. I’ve worked directly with individuals receiving mental health care as a patient care technician and completed clinical internship training in an eating disorder treatment setting, where I had the opportunity to support individuals navigating recovery and the very real ups, downs, and in-betweens that come with meaningful change.

I’ve also volunteered in caregiver support, which has given me an appreciation for the experience of the people supporting someone they love. Caregivers often find themselves balancing concern for another person with their own needs, boundaries, relationships, and wellbeing. The person doing the supporting needs a place to feel supported, heard, and cared for, too.

My training in Choice Theory further influences the way I approach coaching. Rather than focusing on what someone “should” be doing, I’m interested in helping people explore what matters to them, recognize the choices available to them, and build realistic changes that align with the life they actually want to live.

Together, these experiences have shaped a coaching style that is collaborative, compassionate, practical, and strengths-based. I’m not here to hand you a perfect-life checklist. I’m here to help you get clearer about where you want to go, figure out what might help you get there, and support you as you take the next steps.

COACHING WITH CARE

Haven Lake provides coaching, not psychotherapy. If it becomes clear that your needs would be better supported by therapy or a higher level of care, I’ll do my best to help you identify appropriate resources. Your wellbeing matters more than keeping you as a coaching client. I will always be honest and compassionate in guiding you toward another option if it feels like the best step for you.

My work with Haven Lake Coaching is separate from my employment as a therapist, and psychotherapy is not provided through Haven Lake.

Around here, we celebrate progress, not perfection.

We keep moving toward the version of life that feels right for you.

Pobody’s nerfect. Embracing that is part of the beauty of sustainable growth.
